Welcome to the Open Research Initiative

Prompt University is expanding beyond prompt engineering education to become the world’s first open-source AI research lab. Our mission is to democratize access to AI intelligence by making model research, validation, and frontier tracking completely transparent and community-driven.

What We’re Building

Model Database

Track every AI model discovered across social media, with engagement metrics and validation status

Research Papers

Cross-reference papers with model impacts and benchmark changes

Frontier Index

Real-time ranking of the best models for each capability

Applied Tasks

Problem-solving workflows using frontier models

Our Three-Layer System

Undergrad Layer (Discovery)

Automated and community-driven discovery of:
  • New AI models from X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and research announcements
  • Viral prompt examples with engagement metrics (likes, shares, views, bookmarks)
  • Prompt libraries and database scrapes
  • Executive summaries of state-of-the-art capabilities

Graduate Layer (Validation)

Expert-reviewed validation system:
  • Model claim verification with benchmark testing
  • Uprank/downrank based on real-world performance
  • Research paper cross-referencing
  • Timestamped validation updates

Applied Layer (Problem Solving)

Practical application of research:
  • Problem task definitions for studios
  • Frontier model selection for each capability
  • Step-by-step solution workflows
  • Real-world use case documentation

Why Open Source?

The AI landscape moves too fast for closed databases. By making our research open:
  1. Transparency - Anyone can verify our model rankings and validation methods
  2. Community - Researchers and practitioners contribute discoveries
  3. Speed - Collective intelligence tracks the rapidly evolving frontier
  4. Access - Free, open data for builders, researchers, and the curious

Contributing

We welcome contributions! See our Contributing Guide to:
  • Submit new model discoveries
  • Share viral prompt examples
  • Review and validate model claims
  • Document applied tasks and solutions

Data Schema

All our data follows open schemas documented in our GitHub repository. The research is structured as:
research/
├── models/ # Model discoveries with validation status
├── papers/ # Research papers with impact analysis
├── frontier/ # Capability-to-model mappings
└── tasks/ # Applied problem-solving workflows

Discord Integration

Our research feeds directly into the Prompt University Discord where the creative community “niche bends” discoveries into content, tools, and applications.
